Topeka s St. Patrick s Day Parade committee has made the decision to postpone this year s festivities, parade master Tom Kilmartin announced Sunday.
The parade, scheduled to take place March 13 in downtown Topeka, has been postponed because of COVID-19 concerns. The Topeka community continues to see a rise in cases and community spread remains in the uncontrolled index on the Shawnee County Health Department s weekly community transmission scorecard. This decision has been reached in an abundance of caution to ensure that we are doing what is necessary to keep the residents of our community safe and healthy, Kilmartin said.
The parade committee has decided to reschedule the parade for Sept. 18 and call it the Halfway to St. Patty s Day Parade.
