Sullivan confident Mayo can be successful under new manager Moyles March 16, 2021 By Declan Rooney There is plenty to be excited about in Mayo Ladies football circles as the 2021 season approaches and one of the county’s longest serving players, Kathryn Sullivan, says she is determined to help her team reach the next level. A new manager in Michael Moyles, the return of some former players and the arrival of eager, fresh talent means Mayo turn towards the new season with vigour. While their 2020 championship ended at the group stages, 2019’s All-Ireland semi-final appearance suggests there is a talented group of players in the county. Add in some experienced faces like Carnacon’s Fiona McHale and some of her clubmates, and Sullivan (30) thinks the team can make significant progress. ....

(Courtesy Photo) After he graduates from Moffat County High School, senior Donnie Quick will be taking his talents to Eastern Wyoming College on a rodeo scholarship, fulfilling a childhood goal. Competing in rodeo since he was a young boy, Quick’s specialty is team roping, in which two people tie up a steer while on horseback and steer wrestling, in which a participant also on horseback jumps off and grabs a steer dragging it down to the ground in the quickest time possible. Although he prefers steer wrestling, Quick will be doing both for the Lancers. ....

Erie Times-News A magisterial district judge has reinstated a criminal homicide charge that Erie police filed against a city man in a fatal shooting in late September and held the charge for court. Erie 3rd Ward District Judge Tom Carney recently reinstated the homicide charge against 22-year-old Tajh D. Easter that Carney had dismissed following Easter s preliminary hearing in mid-January after the Erie County District Attorney s Office filed a motion asking Carney to reconsider the decision. Easter is charged with 20-year-old Erie resident Duane E. Buckner III in the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Dayquan Holloway and the wounding of another 25-year-old man at a residence in the 800 block of Walnut Street where a house party was taking place on Sept. 27. Buckner is also charged with homicide and other offenses and was held for court on all charges following the Jan. 14 preliminary hearing. ....
