Barbara Clark The best ride in town may just be the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority’s recently inaugurated SmartDART service, up and running since September, and available to Barnstable’s 60+ population, with personalized service you call when you need transportation on short notice. Tom Cahir, administrator for the CCRTA, said the initiative is a way to explore “micro-transit” options that offer a more immediate response time of 10 to 15 minutes, available for older residents who need what the transit service would call short-haul lift – usually about three miles or less – to destinations like a friend’s house, shopping venue, doctor s appointment or local event, and request the ride with minimal notice. ....
