Seven secondary students from around the Mōtū have issued different challenges on how Aotearoa can move towards being a racist-free country, at the Race Unity Speech Awards national finals in Auckland on the weekend.
The Lake Ōhau community has been nominated for an award to recognise its efforts in the lead up to and during a massive fire which swept through the village a year ago, but at least one resident believes the fire service is more deserving of any such award.
