The issue is particularly here in lansing we have a situation where we have three sex offenders for every sworn officer in the city of lansing. that s pretty difficult to deal with all the other issues going on in the community as well as monitor these sex offenders. as of two weeks ago, there were about 40 sex offenders that were currently on the list in the city. but apparently, the justice system may not be helping police in this because then after mr. hill is arrested, he apparently appeared in court and was given only $250 bail which, of course, he met and now he s back out on the streets. that s absolutely true and that i got to tell you, that upsets me. even as a reporter, that upsets me. and, you know, they didn t even put a condition on him to have a tether. this is a guy that was arrested not only on the warrant for failing to register which is a felony, but also on a bench warrant which is a misdemeanor for failing to appear in court for driving without a driver s licens ....
By the folks on facebook and as soon as i was able to verify where he was on easter sunday, i mean, it only took three hours, i provided that information to the captain of the north precinct and said, hey, here s your guy. go get him. this is an amazing thing because you say it only took you three hours to find out where this guy was and the police had been looking for him for three years? that s correct. that s correct. so when you contacted the police, what was their response? the captain of the north precinct was like let s go get him. and they did. they immediately mobilized. they missed him on easter sunday and were able to, based on the information, i provided them track him down in jackson at that daycare center. so he was obviously in the company of children. he s a registered sex offender. what are your feelings? take your reporter hat off for a moment. what are your feelings about the fact that this guy was so easily to be found but nobody was looking for him? i t ....
