Man convicted in slayings of Ohio couple, unborn child

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) A man accused of killing an Ohio couple and the woman’s unborn child has been convicted on all counts. Larry Rodgers, 33, of Dayton, was found guilty Thursday on four counts each of aggravated murder, murder, kidnapping and felonious assault, two counts of involuntary manslaughter and a weapons offense.

New Holland business owner unseats incumbent in borough council primary race

Three of four Republican incumbent councilmembers and one challenger won their party’s nomination for new terms on the New Holland Borough council. New Holland Borough, located in a very conservative part of Lancaster County, had no Democratic candidates on Tuesday’s ballot.  The Republican Committee of Lancaster County’s Elanco area committee did not endorse candidates in the race, leaving it up to voters. The three incumbents Patrick Morgan, Bryant Glick and Todd Burkhart are now almost guaranteed another four-year term if their leads hold. Mike Martin, a 34-year-old business owner, will unseat incumbent Harry Klinger. One of the candidates who was unsuccessful in his intra-party challenge, Andy Walker, went to Washington, D.C. on January 6 to support former President Donald Trump’s baseless effort to reverse the outcome of the November election. New Holland Borough honors longtime employee Clete Stone with well-naming

When: New Holland Borough Council meeting, May 4. What happened: Council recognized Clete Stone for 47 years of employment with the borough from May 1974 to May 2021. He will retire Friday, May 7, as supervisor of the New Holland Water Department, a position held for 25 years. Honors: In recognition of Stone’s service, council is dedicating the new Groff Park water well under construction at Railroad Avenue and Conestoga Street in Stone’s honor. The plaque on the well building will identify it as The Cletus H. Stone Jr. Building. Council members praised Stone’s work ethic and leadership. New well: Jeff Bologa of Becker Engineering LLC, Lancaster, showed an artist’s rendition of the new well building. Bologa said it is the fifth well to be built in the borough and will likely be in operation by November.
