Who was Slint? “Teenagers who thought about music differently than other people did,” is one fan’s simple description of the game-changing quartet from Louisville, Ky.
The band only made two enigmatic records in the late ’80s and broke up before the second one, “Spiderland,” was released; their legend started growing immediately. As the years passed, the love for that strange, intense, abstract “rock” record seemed to grow exponentially. Now the album is regularly hailed as the big bang for the genre called “post-rock” and leaves a trail of words like “revolutionary,” “iconic” and “groundbreaking” in its wake. ....
