YOUNGSTOWN LaVonne Scott Peterson, 68, passed Monday, Feb. 22, 2021, at home, surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of Walter and Gladys Scott. She married Aaron Peterson, her high school sweetheart, Aug. 3, 1991. She graduated from East High School in 1970. She then earned her licensed practical nursing license from Albany Medical Center in Albany, N.Y. She returned to Youngstown, where she was employed as a nurse at Southside and Northside hospitals, retiring in 2011. LaVonne loved to travel and enjoyed watching her favorites teams, the Cleveland Indians and The Ohio State Buckeyes. She enjoyed reading, audiobooks, playing cards, crocheting and baking. She loved her family dearly, including numerous nieces and nephews, and was always there to lend a helping hand in putting others before herself. ....
COLUMBUS – Hattie L. Woods, 87, formerly of Youngstown, received her wings Friday, Dec. 11, 2020. She was born Aug. 26, 1933, in Youngstown, the daughter of Henry Sr. and Mattie Anderson Clinkscale. She attended Youngstown City Schools and was a member of Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church. She was formerly employed with Towel Supply for many years and retired as a shift leader. Mrs. Woods was an expert at quilting and crocheting. She was also an avid reader, enjoyed playing bingo and made award-winning apple pies. Mrs. Woods was a single parent of seven who was always there for her children; her love never wavered. She devoted her life totally to raising her children and her door was always open to a host of nieces and nephews. She was able to enjoy her later years of life traveling all over the country to visit with her children. Her favorite place to travel was Hawaii. ....
