Prominent architect and mother. i am without words. i really don t know how something like that could happen. reporter: the city now identifying more than 1,300 buildings that need immediate repairs, after 60-year-old erica tishman was hit by debris and killed tuesday. the building at 49th and seventh was cited back in april for failure to maintain building walls and that several locations pose a falling hazard. sometimes you look up and you wonder how safe these buildings are. well, it turns out, in some instances, not very. reporter: the building owners paid a $1,200 fine but didn t make the repairs. in july, they applied for permits, but it wasn t until after tishman was killed that crews installed protective scaffolding around the building. tonight, new concerns for pedestrians in manhattan. the nypd tweeting, we are responding to 911 calls for falling ice from various buildings in midtown. the building owners released a statement, saying their hearts go out to this famil ....
