Axens’ technologies for Basrah Refinery Upgrading Project

Part of Iraq’s Ministry of Oil, the state-owned South Refineries Company (SRC) executed the upgrading of its refinery located in Basrah, Iraq by implementing a new refining plant adjacent to the existing refinery facility. The Basrah Upgrading Project is now reaching the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) phase carried out by JGC Corporation (JGC).
Axens is pleased to continue being involved in this important Iraqi project, which will increase the gasoline and diesel production along with other oil products, reducing the national refined products imports. The Basrah Upgrading Project will also improve oil refinery efficiency of the complete facility. ....

Qatar Petroleum enters two offshore exploration blocks in Namibia

Qatar Petroleum entered into an agreement with Shell to become a partner in two exploration blocks offshore the Republic of Namibia.
Under the terms of the agreement, which is subject to customary approvals, Qatar Petroleum will hold a 45% participating interest in the PEL 39 exploration license pertaining to Block 2913A and Block 2914B, while Shell (the Operator) will hold a 45% interest, and the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR) will hold the remaining 10% interest.

Scotland took a step closer to its net zero carbon goals today with the announcement of over £30m of UK Government funding for a suite of initiatives linked to the Acorn carbon capture and storage (CCS) project.
In June 2020 Petrofac was selected to provide ongoing Engineering and Project Management Office support for the Acorn project. PKN ORLEN​ has signed an oil supply contract with Rosneft, with the monthly contract volume amounting to 300,000 tonnes of oil, as agreed with the Russian partners during negotiations. The volume reduction will not affect the security of supplies to ORLEN Group refineries.
Under the previous contract between PKN ORLEN and Rosneft, effective until January 31st 2021, oil supplies amounted to 5.4–6.6m tonnes annually. The new two-year contract provides for annual supplies of 3.6m tonnes to PKN ORLEN refineries.
‘The reduction in crude oil supplies under the contract with Rosneft changes nothing for the stability of oil supplies to ORLEN Group refineries or fuel supplies in the region.
