Man Sentenced for Engaging in Illicit Sexual Conduct with Minors in the Republic of Kenya Details Written by DOJ Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - A Pennsylvania man was sentenced Thursday to over 15 years in prison plus a lifetime of supervised release, and ordered to pay $16,000 in restitution for engaging in illicit sexual conduct in a foreign place. American orphanage owner jailed for sexually abusing minors in Kenya

An American man identified as Gregory Dow has been sentenced to over 15 years in prison plus a lifetime of supervised release, for engaging in illicit sexual conduct in Kenya. According to a statement by The United States Department of Justice, the court also ordered Dow, to pay a total of $16,000 in restitution. Investigation by FBI’s Philadelphia Field office with assistance from Kenyan authorities and local law enforcement in Lancaster County revealed that the 61-year old Dow travelled to Kenya in 2008 to start an orphanage with his wife. Dow while still maintaining close ties with the US sexually abused the children at the orphanage called Dow Family Children’s Home on multiple occasions.

Gregory Dow, 61, plead guilty to four counts of engaging in illicit sexual conduct in a foreign place in June 2020. He was sentenced at a hearing on Thursday. According to information provided to the court, the investigation of this case revealed that Dow traveled to the Republic of Kenya in 2008 to start an orphanage which came to be known as the Dow Family Children’s Home. While running the orphanage with his wife, Dow sexually abused, on multiple occasions, four minor girls between October 2013 and September 2017, the Dept. of Justice said.
