Ontario reports 3,424 new COVID-19 cases, 26 deaths
Ontario is reporting 3,424 new cases of COVID-19 and 26 deaths on May 6 after two consecutive days of case counts under 3,000.
The province detected 2,941 new cases on Wednesday, 2,791 cases on Tuesday and 3,436 on Monday. Despite the increase back over 3,000 today, the seven-day rolling average is still on the decline, dropping from 3,432 on Wednesday to 3,369 today.
Ontario administered a record high 141,038 vaccine doses in the past day, bringing the provincial total to 5,740,761 total vaccine doses administered, including 384,589 people fully vaccinated. ....

Ontario reports 4,212 new cases of COVID-19, 32 deaths
11:30 am Ontario is reporting 4,212 new cases of COVID-19 and 32 additional deaths on April 21.
The province detected 3,469 cases on Tuesday, 4,447 on Monday and 4,250 on Sunday. The seven-day average has increased again after several days of a slightly downwards slope, moving from 4,319 the day before to 4,327 today.
Ontario administered a record number of 136,695 vaccine doses in the past day, coming the closest to the 150,000 a day target that vaccine distribution officials have previously pointed to. The province has now surpassed the four million mark, administering 4,131,882 doses so far with 349,396 people fully vaccinated.

Ontario could see 30,000 cases per day in May without stricter measures: modelling
1:30 pm Modelling projections presented on Friday by the Ontario science advisory table show the province could experience up to 30,000 new COVID-19 cases per day by the end of May without stricter measures.
In the best-case scenario, the province’s curve would flatten around 5,000 cases or less over the next six-weeks assuming Ontario continues doing at least 100,000 vaccinations per day.
“Without stronger system-level measures and immediate support for essential workers and high-risk communities, high case rates will persist through the summer,” said Adalsteinn Brown, co-chair of the science table and head of the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. ....
