Monson Town Administrator Evan Brassard departing to become Grafton’s administrator Updated Jan 20, 2021; He has been the Monson administrator since 2014. The board of selectmen plan to hire an interim administrator by Feb. 21, when Brassard will begin in Grafton. Monson selectmen are meeting next week to discuss appointing a 5-person ad-hoc committee of town employees to vet candidates who apply as the interim administrator. The goal is to have a permanent administrator on the job by late spring. The town is contracting with Plymouth-based Community Paradigm Associates to assist in the search process for a permanent municipal administrator. Grafton’s most recent, permanent, Town Administrator, Timothy McInerney, who had been in the position for 12 years, departed last year, not long after having agreed to a new, 4-year contract with the town.

Monson town administrator hired as Grafton’s next top administrator Lisa Redmond GRAFTON After spending three hours interviewing the three finalists for the town administrator’s post, it only took the select board a matter of minutes to unanimously vote to offer the job to current Monson Town Administrator Evan P. Brassard. Brassard, 40, of Monson, was chosen over finalists Joshua A. Garcia, town administrator in Blandford, and Ari J. Sky, chief financial officer in New Bedford. The board will meet next week in executive session to review the contents of the contract before select board chair Peter Carlson enters into negotiations with Brassard. The budgeted annual salary for the new town administrator is $160,000.

Lisa Redmond GRAFTON After months of screening resumes, completing background checks and hours of interviews, the three finalists for the town administrator’s job are the town administrators in Monson and Blandford and the chief financial officer in New Bedford. Out of an initial pool of 33 applicants, the town administrator screening committee, with help from consultants Community Paradigm Associates, presented the select board on Tuesday, Dec. 29, with three finalists, one of which will be Grafton’s next town adminstrator. The finalists are: Evan P. Brassard, town administrator in Monson; Joshua A. Garcia, town administrator in Blandford; and Ari J. Sky, chief financial officer in New Bedford.
