The Maui News Mahi Pono’s Senior Vice President of Operations Shan Tsutsui has been promoted to chief operating officer, the company announced Wednesday. Tsutsui succeeds Tim O’Laughlin who will be relocating to California to focus on new initiatives for both Mahi Pono and Pomona Farming, according to a news release. In his new role, Tsutsui will be responsible for all day-to-day operations for the Maui-based farming company which includes management operations, business strategy, community leadership, government relations and sales and distribution. Tsutsui joined Mahi Pono in January of 2018. Prior to joining the company, Tsutsui served as Hawaii’s lieutenant governor and a state senator representing Maui, in addition to with being a business owner and financial advisor. ....
