Every weekend on cspan three. Mr. Henesy my name is greg henesy. Im one of the people who give school tours to the weeks and the world war ii section. In this area we have set up represents the buildings we quickly put up at the start of world war ii. The reason we had to cook up to quickly put them up was that we were not prepared for war. The u. S. Military had less than 350,000 soldiers at the outbreak of world war ii. The army, navy, and marines combined. No air force yet, they were the Army Air Corps. By the end of the war we had about 17 million people. To do that we had to put Training Centers all over the country and expand what we had. We had to put Training Centers all over the country and use those types of buildings that are represented. Now, if you notice this is a friend of mine. His name is richard. Th ....
Its been wild and woolly couple of days, lot of history packed into a short period of time. I want to begin today, as i did yesterday with a quote, and in the introduction to the quote, has anyone not seen saving private ryan . Anyone not seen it . Thats what i figured. For those of us that have served and particularly those of us that have faced combat that opening scene is something that youll never forget, ever. I hope you never forget it, but the scene most important to me actually came later in the movie. Tom hanks laying on the rubble called over private ryan and he asked him to kneel down, and he said to him two words, earn this. Any victory Worth Winning must be deserved, and as the victories are increased in scale, so must be our exertions. Deserve victory, Winston Churchill said. We shall not win through the evils in our enemy, we shall win through the merit in ou ....

By the end of the war we had about 17 million people. To do that we had to put Training Centers all over the country and expand what we had. We had to put Training Centers all over the country and use those types of buildings that are represented. Now, if you notice this is a friend of mine. His name is richard. This is him in september of 1942, when he started his training in georgia. Im wearing boots, coveralls, just the way they did to train. One reason they issued coveralls to train with was world war ii was truly a global war. We were fighting in the pacific in the islands, we were in africa, we were also in europe. So we were not quite sure where you are going to go. Therefore we issued coveralls and started getting to combat signs, you would then switch into the uniform that fit for that. So, fortunately this weekend, you see, just like the barracks would look like ....
You. When i think about this book i see it as having three major parts, after you introduce a situation now, you do a really good job of talking about through stories how workers struggled, they themselves built the middle class in this country to a great extent by organizing, by striking, bargaining through a lot of adversity and demanding more from policy changes and then you go through a lot of the hard times of what i call the reagan era which we are still in Work Companies and starting with the president of the United States really attacked workers a lot and their unions and then you tell a lot of hopeful stories about different creative and innovative ways that workers have been organizing and unions and other forms and make policy recommendations and one thing i have to say, a lot of books like this are criticized because they come up short on the policy recommendation ....
