First ocean vessel arrives in Port of Thunder Bay

THUNDER BAY - It’s an early start to the shipping season this year at the Port of Thunder Bay and while there is no top hat to be worn, the first ocean going vessel arriving in port is still worth a celebration.
“It’s always an exciting time when the first ocean vessel comes to town,” said Tim Heney, Port of Thunder Bay CEO. “Lake vessels you just have to cross Lake Superior to qualify. The ocean vessels come from overseas, which makes it a little different.” ....

City Seeks to Require Energy Cost Disclosure - The Montpelier Bridge

Montpelier residents would be required to disclose their home’s annual energy cost when selling their property under an ordinance proposed by the city council.
If approved, the measure would require home sellers to obtain a free Vermont Home Energy Profile (VHEP) and provide the results to realtors and prospective buyers. The profile includes an annual cost estimate for heating, cooling, and electricity use and applies an algorithm that scores the home on its energy consumption.
City officials say the profile is good for buyers and sellers by informing the owner of his or her current energy use and offers consumer protection for buyers by educating them on what improvements might be needed to lower energy costs. ....

The self-discharging bulk carrier, owned by Lower Lakes Towing Ltd., docked at the Richardson Terminal in the north end of the harbour Tuesday morning to pick up a load of grain.
The boat was expected to leave the port and head for Windsor at approximately 5:00 p.m., closing a season which the port authority has described as very successful.
Thunder Bay handled more cargo this year, 10.2 million metric tonnes, than in any year since 1997. That was also the last year that shipments exceeded the 10 million tonne mark. ....

The Port of Thunder Bay is anticipating shipping volumes over 10 million tonnes, which would be the highest since 1997.(Chamber of Marine Commerce)
The Thunder Bay port is on course to record a 23-year high in shipping volume.
Over 10 million of tonnes of cargo is expected to pass through the Lake Superior port during this shipping season, led mostly by grain.
Port of Thunder Bay chief executive officer Tim Heney said over nine million tonnes of grain will be handled. ....
