A report by an expert committee has suggested that in new sectors, such building plans can be allowed provided adequate infrastructure is developed, while in old sectors, an audit of existing infrastructure should be conducted before granting permission.
The panel says adequate infrastructure should be in place for approval of such building plans. A final decision on the committee’s report is yet to be taken by the state government.
Some suggestions included allowing construction of stilt-plus-four-floors with certain caveats such as taking approval from RWAs before start of any such construction, or allowing it only in new plotted development colonies.
Officials said that the feedback received include a mix of suggestions as some are against the stilt-plus-four arrangement and some are in its favour. Some residents have suggested that a set of rules should be established if the suspension on stilt-plus-four construction is revoked.
