According to the new law, the Board will dissolve in July 2023. In the meantime, lawmakers are scaling back the Boards’ duties.

The state board that allowed a convicted double murderer to be released from the Arizona State Hospital into a Gilbert group home, where police say he then murdered another resident, will be losing its power to make decisions.
Governor Ducey signed SB1839 into law Tuesday, which would shift power from the state s Psychiatric Security Review Board, or PSRB, to the state s superior courts. ....

Missing persons, assaults, suicide attempts: Police called to Tilda Manor group homes in Mesa 176 times since 2018
Since 2018, officers have responded to the Tilda Manor group home on Isabella Ave. 92 times and the home on Ananea St. 84 times for a combined 176 calls for help.

MESA, Ariz. It s April 1, 2018, and Mesa Police are called to a group home. 
It s the fourth time in a week they d been called to the address for a missing persons call. And each time, staff at the group home say the same person goes missing from their 24-hour care facility. ....

GILBERT, Ariz. Neighbors have called Gilbert leaders and have even spoken out at a Town Council meeting demanding to know how a person convicted of murder could be placed by the state in a group home in their community where he d later get arrested for murder again.
