We have tackled many strange stories on 60 Minutes, but perhaps none like this. It s the story of the U.S. government s grudging acknowledgment of unidentified aerial phenomena UAP more commonly known as UFOs. After decades of public denial the Pentagon now admits there s something out there, and the U.S. Senate wants to know what it is. The intelligence committee has ordered the director of national intelligence and the secretary of defense to deliver a report on the mysterious sightings by next month.

UFO report will share details of unexplainable sightings


Also speaking on the same Sunday night segment, former Navy pilot David Fravor discussed a 2004 incident off the coast of Southern California where he said he and three other pilots spotted an unexplained large area of roiling whitewater surrounded by a calm sea.
And we saw this little white Tic Tac-looking object. And it s just kind of moving above the whitewater area, Fravor told 60 Minutes.  
The director of National Intelligence and secretary of defense were tasked with creating the upcoming unclassified report for intelligence and armed services committees in Congress.
Former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe told Fox News Maria Bartiromo on March 19 that the report would include information that cannot easily be explained. ....

Ahead of a June deadline for an intelligence report on UFOs, the mystery over what the U.S. government calls “unidentified aerial phenomena” was featured on
60 Minutes for the first time. Navy pilot witnesses and former government officials argued this is a serious issue.
The declassified report on UFOs scheduled to be handed over next month was mandated thanks to the $2.3 trillion bill that former President Donald Trump signed into law in December, which contained a committee comment from the Senate Intelligence Committee, calling upon the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the Pentagon to provide what they know. ....
