波密县地处喜马拉雅山脉东段北麓，高山绵延，河流纵横，古称“博窝”，藏文意为祖先，是西藏第一代藏王聂赤赞普的出生地。这里历史悠久，物产丰富，素有“中国最美冰川之乡”“藏王故里”“高原氧吧”等美誉。
波密县政府所在地扎木镇，森林环抱，帕隆藏布江自东向西穿城而过，城内街巷纵横，店铺林立，车水马龙。进入旅游旺季，自驾车进出藏的游客络绎不绝。入夜，小城处处灯火璀璨，热闹非凡。
因独特的地理位置，波密俨然是318国道上亮眼的明星城镇。但在历史上，这里被雪山环抱，交通不便，一度是人们难以到达的地方。
波密的改变，始自70年前的和平解放。1950年，西藏昌都战役后，波密地区派人到已经解放的昌都洛隆，要求解放军进驻波密。1951年3月，中共波密工委成立；8月，工委书记苗丕一率队进驻波密，� ....
