Seminoles Outlast No. 22 Georgia Tech in Overtime

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – In a back-and-forth thriller at the Tucker Center, the Florida State Women’s Basketball team secured a big win after defeating No. 22 Georgia Tech, 65-63, in overtime in front of a boisterous crowd on Thursday night.

Emotions were already high on Senior Night as five members including Tiana England, Bianca Jackson, Morgan Jones, Valencia Myers and Kourtney Weber were honored before the game. England was able to get her first action of the season by getting the starting nod.

But the night will be remembered for a tough, physical battle that the Seminoles (15-12, 9-8) won in exhilarating fashion.

“People call it the invisible illness. People look at me and see I’m always cheerful, and you would not know what I deal with,” said Florida State Women’s Basketball player Tiana England, who will be one of five Seminoles honored during Senior Night vs. No. 22 Georgia Tech on Thursday. England, a graduate transfer, was diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, commonly referred to as POTS, in August 2021. Her journey to get a diagnosis was not an easy one - it took over 15 years for England and her family to get answers. Symptoms started to appear when England was only six years old. After fainting at school and fracturing her jaw, England’s doctor told her she was dehydrated. Despite excruciating headaches every day, dizziness, blurry vision, fatigue, increased heart rate, and fainting spells, England pushed through without answers from doctors. England had a successful basketball career at St. John’s and was one of the nation’s leaders in career assists ....

Noles Host No. 22 Georgia Tech on Senior Night

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – Florida State Women’s Basketball plays in its regular-season home finale on Thursday vs. No. 22 Georgia Tech at 6 p.m. at the Donald L. Tucker Center on the ACC Network. The event will be Senior Night, where FSU will honor five seniors starting at 5:41 p.m.

The five seniors being honored include guards Tiana England, Bianca Jackson, Morgan Jones, Kourtney Weber and forward Valencia Myers.

The Seminoles (14-12, 8-8) and Yellow Jackets (19-8, 10-6) meet for the second time this season, as Georgia Tech squeaked past FSU in the first matchup, 68-64. FSU’s 64 points scored were the most allowed by Georgia Tech’s vaunted defense up to that point of the season, and FSU held a seven-point lead with 3:54 remaining before the Yellow Jackets came back to win.

After enduring injuries and players missing time due to COVID-19 protocols, FSU’s matchup vs. Georgia Tech on Jan. 13 was its first time having a full roster available ....

Seminoles Host Rival Miami on Thursday Night

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – The 65th women’s basketball meeting between rivals Florida State and Miami takes place on Thursday night at 8 p.m. at the Donald L. Tucker Center. The contest will air on several of the ACC’s regional sports networks, including Bally Sports Sun. The Seminoles (8-7, 2-3) lead the Hurricanes (9-6, 2-3) in the all-time series, 48-16, and have won the last seven games played in Tallahassee. A balanced scoring effort by four returning Seminoles highlighted FSU’s 67-59 win vs. Miami in their last meeting at the Tucker Center on Feb. 14, 2021. Kourtney Weber led FSU with 15 points, while Bianca Jackson had 13 and Valencia Myers and Sammie Puisis each added 12 points in the victory.
