LEH conducts seminar on legal rights - Eastern Mirror

Our CorrespondentWokha, July 14 (EMN): Lotha Eloe Hoho (LEH) conducted a seminar for women leaders on legal rights and safety of women on July 14 at Wokha District Village Council Chairman Association (WDVCCA) hall in Wokha town. Speaking on the rights of women, Thungbeni Kikon, case workers at Saki-One Stop Center (OSC), Wokha, claimed that women were not treated equally or ignored and least paid comparing to their male counterparts in manual work. Despite the tall claim on gender equality propagated in the society, Thungbeni alleged that women were deprived or harassed or been ignored by the society and treated inferior. She, therefore, called upon the women to fight against the discrimination prevailing in the society. She further opined that girl child should have inheritance rights. Stakeholders trained on anti-human trafficking

Dimapur, July 5 (EMN): Wokha district administration and Sakhi-One Stop Centre (OSC), supported by National Commission for Women, organised a one-day training and capacity-building programme for anti-human trafficking unit and other stakeholders dealing with prevention of human trafficking and rehabilitation of victims under Wokha district on July 5 at the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office. Delivering the keynote address, the deputy commissioner of Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, stated that no single organisation can handle issues such as human trafficking single-handedly. He, therefore, urged all stakeholders, NGO, and government agencies to come forwards and extend support in tackling such illegal crimes, stated a DIPR report.
