The bluebirds have been back for a while now I saw my first one nearly a month ago but a combination of other plans and terrible weather kept me from actually going out to look for them. Now, though, I was on the hunt.
Probably wasn’t the best day for it. A truly vicious wind had blown through and brought snow and freezing rain to southern Alberta the day before and the cold had frozen over most of the ponds and iced up the creek banks. While the bluebirds wouldn’t have much trouble surviving that, the day was still pretty cold. The bluebirds and most of the other smaller migrants would likely be hunkered down. ....
