Senator Abiru seeks urgent interventions on deplorable Ikorodu/Sagamu, Ikorodu-Itoikin-Epe Roads

Senator, representing Lagos East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Adetokunbo Abiru, on Wednesday, moved a motion for the urgent rehabilitation of the Ikorodu/Shagamu and Ikorodu-Itoikin-Epe- Ijebu-Ode roads.
In the motion titled, “Motion On The Urgent Need For The Rehabilitation Of The Ikorodu-Shagamu And Ikorodu-Itoikin- Epe Roads To Further Bridge The Infrastructure Gap And Enhance Economic Growth In Nigeria”, Abiru urged that the critical roads connecting the Ikorodu and other areas under the Lagos East Senatorial District to other parts of the country should be rehabilitated.
The motion on the deplorable roads is a response to one of the major requests by Lagos East constituents in the NEEDS ASSESMENT that was conducted by Abiru during the electioneering last year.

In a motion titled, “Motion On The Urgent Need For The Rehabilitation Of The Ikorodu-Shagamu And Ikorodu-Itoikin- Epe Roads” Abiru on Wednesday on the floor of the Senate submitted that critical roads connecting Ikorodu district and other communities under the Lagos East Senatorial District to other parts of the country needs to be rehabilitated, stating that it will bridge the infrastructure gap and enhance economic growth within the State and across the country.

The Senate at Wednesday plenary mandated its Committee on Works and Housing to liaise with the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing to include further funding for the rehabilitation of the Ikorodu-Shagamu road in the 2022 Appropriation bill.
It also resolved to provide appropriate funding for the reconstruction of the Ikorodu-Itoikin-Epe road in the 2022 Appropriation bill while directing the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing to explore the possibility of other financing sources in order to accelerate the completion of both roads.
The resolutions followed the adoption of a motion on the urgent need to rehabilitate the two roads to further bridge the infrastructural gap and enhance economic growth in Nigeria, sponsored by Senator Adetokunbo Abiru (Lagos East) and co-sponsored by Senators Remi Tinubu (Lagos Central), Adamu Aliero (Kebbi Central), Adeola Olamilekan (Lagos West), Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun West), Tolu Odebiyi, (Ogun West) and Lekan Must
