After growing up on the soccer fields of Raleigh and attending Duke and making it as a pro in Major League Soccer, Barnes is an executive in the Charlotte FC front office, still living out his soccer dream.

Charlotte FC announced that the Club has signed midfielder Nuno Santos from SL Benfica to a contract until 2024 with an option for 2025. The move is pending receipt of a P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC).

There is still more to come from the Major League Soccer club, which takes the pitch in 2022. Sources confirm Nick Kelly will be named president after six years with Anheuser-Busch InBev. Kelly’s most recent position was vice president for partnerships, beer culture and community. He is also familiar with the Charlotte area, spending 2011-14 in Charlotte with NASCAR.
