Humboldt County is creating a legal path for people to make a tiny home or emergency shelter village in response to the county’s housing crisis. Thursday, the Humboldt County Planning Commission hosted a workshop on a few kinds of housing situations set to be legalized and hashed out the details.
Thursday, the Humboldt County Planning Commission went over an upcoming change to zoning laws that would allow developers to build housing on more plots of land. The commission will vote on the change later.
The ordinance caps the housing stock that can be used as STRs in unincorporated Humboldt County. It also limits the number of STR permits that can be owned by a business or individual to three.
