Washington State eases restriction on in-person church services

Washington State announced that it is lifting a restriction on the number of people who can attend services at houses of worship, the change coming shortly before Christmas.
Previously, Washington had a limit on indoor and outdoor services of 25% capacity or up to 200 people in attendance, whichever was less, as well as a restriction on singing.
In the new guidance, announced Monday, the 200-person limit became a recommendation rather than a requirement, though face masks and social distancing are still required.
The singing rule, first introduced on Dec. 10, was clarified to allow for solo singers as long as they wear face masks; congregational singing will be allowed only for outdoor services. ....

(December 15, 2020 – Washington, DC) Today, the United States Supreme Court handed down what attorneys from the Thomas More Society are calling “a huge victory for religious freedom.” The case, pitting a New Jersey Catholic priest and Orthodox Jewish rabbi against Governor Philip Murphy’s COVID-19-related executive orders restricting houses of worship to 25% of capacity while secular businesses and schools are at 100% capacity.

Ninth Circuit Rules for Religious Freedom in NV, Supreme Court Tells Lower Court to Rethink Ruling on NJ Houses of Worship

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday ruled in favor of Calvary Chapel Dayton Valley and Calvary Chapel Lone Mountain in their lawsuits against Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak s worship bans. 
As CBN News reported in July, the US Supreme Court ruled 5-4 against injunctive relief for the Nevada churches while the appeal was pending in the Ninth Circuit. However, now that the high court has ruled in favor of New York City synagogues and Roman Catholic churches in Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn v. Cuomo and Agudath Israel v. Cuomo, that created the mandate to strike down the Nevada governor s orders.  ....
