the nobel peace prize winner has spent the better part of two decades in prison or under house arrest. the government in myanmar, also known as burma, refused to allow cnn and other news organizations into the country to cover the event. we have this story from a journalist now in myanmar. reporter: after years in detention, it was the moment many people in myanmar and the world had been waiting for. aung san suu kyi, the burmese opposition icon, and nobel peace laureate, free. standing on the fence of her residence that s been her prison for 15 of the past 21 years. waving to supporters and putting a trademark flower in her hair, aung san suu kyi said very little in this first encounter with the public, only telling the crowd i m very happy to see you all again. then telling supporters to come to the headquarters of her opposition party, the national league for democracy at midday on sunday where she plans to address them in a speech. hundreds of supporters gathere ....
