The recent storms have left a significant amount of trash along the San Diego River, especially at one of the most narrow points between Fashion Valley Road and the 163 overpass. The river is in need of urgent care. Help us reach our goal of cleaning this entire area by joining the community for a Big River Post Storm Cleanup event on Saturday, February 24th from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.! There are two shifts due to the great need, so you can join us from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. or 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. or both!Thank you to our partner Think Blue San Diego for being a long time supporter of our cleanups. Join I Love A Clean San Diego and Think Blue San Diego for a Valentine's Day weekend litter cleanup! Meet like-minded people while showing love to our local watersheds. In addition, Café Moto will be providing free coffee and cocoa to our volunteers!Our staff will have check-in ready for you on-site. Be sure to wear comfortable clothes, closed-toed shoes, some form of sun protection (sunscreen or a hat), and bring a water bottle or two! Staff will be providing everything else you will need! After a short orientation and safety talk you will be sent off to remove litter around the area! Staff will sort and dispose of the collected litter and after the cleanup, you can request community service verification in your Community Hub dashboard.WAIVERS: This event requires a signed release-of-liability waiver for all volunteers and anyone under 18 needs a waiver signed by a guardian.
