The discovery of 39 bodies in a lorry container in Essex last year was the UK s worst migrant tragedy in nearly two decades.
The Vietnamese nationals – men, women and children, aged between 15 and 44 – had suffocated after being sealed inside an airtight unit for nearly 12 hours in pitch darkness.
Temperatures inside the container had reached an unbearable 38.5C (101.3F) after the migrants paid people smugglers more than £10,000 each to travel to England.
Now the victims families – many of whom have been left with huge debts in Vietnam - are demanding answers.
Why were they forced to travel in the sweltering, cramped conditions that caused their deaths? And could they have been saved along the route? ....
