damaging winds with the thunderstorms today, but also isolated tornadoes will be a possibility. there s an enormous amount of wind energy just aloft, so anywhere from about 3,000 to 15,000 feet, up over our heads. some near 100-mile-an-hour winds. so very, very active weather day coming. the warmer it is here, too, the more it s going to stir the pot, right? correct. thank you, chuck. major storms are to blame for the deaths of at least nine people in the midwest and south, and it appears to be heading our way. nbc s kurt gregory has more on the devastation that those storms left behind. we ve got two, three, oh! reporter: the deadly storm system spawned tornadoes across parts of the midwest and south. no tornadoes reported in western arkansas, but that state was hit the hardest. seven people were killed in arkansas, including a mother and her young son, who died when a tree fell on their house. it s just a tragedy. i feel for the family, with all my heart ....
