on producing health care. i m not giving a daily commentary on the president. these are racist tweets. do you have any concerns about it? the president said these minority congresswomen should go back to their countries. do you have a response? i haven t read that, but i ll check it out. haven t read it. all right. let me turn now to democrat in california congressman pete aguilar. congressman, thank you for coming on the show. and bottom line, what is your response to the president s comments, telling your democratic colleagues to go back to the countries where they came from? it s terrible. it s awful. it s racist. and clearly so is the president. and that s the unfortunate part of this discussion, is that the president has shown us exactly who he is, from campaigning and saying mexicans are rapists and drug dealers, to saying that the prior president was from another country. he stokes this fear in the country to fan his political base. and it s truly unfortunate.
really see the way in which he connects with his audience. how he does it. how he stokes that fire. that s really there. and i ve been out with, you know, all the democratic candidates over the last four or five months and nobody has that kind of rock star quality that you see with donald trump tonight. nobody is camping out before these rallies. and right now democrats are really i think confused about who they want the nominee to be. because they have so many choices. and so it s fascinating to see him sort of step back into the spotlight and reset the race once again. well, you know, amanda, he has a rock star status with his base, but he has never expanded that group. he s never had a majority of support. how big a problem will that be for 2020? do you think it will be a problem at all? i mean, it really comes down to that i hate this phrase, binary choice, but who he is
