committee sending investigators to denmark? what does it have to do with roger stone? we will ask congresswoman zoe lofgren. and measuring the impact on tens of millions of american lives after president biden s student debt cancellation. i made a commitment, i am honoring that commitment today. all in starts right now. good evening from new york, i m chris hayes. we have new election results last night, i ve gotta say, in the end of day, 24 hours later. one thing is clear than it is ever been. we are, right now, as i speak to you tonight, in a whole new world, politically. what s the future will bring, how the november midterm elections will unfold 76 days from now is obviously unknown, it is the future. but if you are trying to figure out what s the expectation is, it is basically a jump ball. it is a 50/50 proposition right now. and i am shocked to find myself saying that. i mean, truly! just a few months ago, it did not seem like that would be the case. ....
gravity. the democrats started off as underdogs. then they had to contend with a string of really bad luck, part of it just the end of the pandemic s worth phase. getting back to normal, they were lingering supply chain issues from the pandemic, led to concerns that very well-documented baby formula shortage. those supply chain issues were also one factor in a record high inflation, which again, was afflicting basically every country across the world. but, you know, you can t tell voters, well, everyone is in the same boat. it really did seem poised to be the single undoing of the biden administration. pardon of that inflation where the enormous high gas prices. another issue for incumbent democrats. republicans, again, this is a political layup. taking every opportunity to talk about the price at the pump and how it s democrats fault. of course, part of the reason gas prices were so high is the biden administration was trying to contend with the largest land war in ....
Everywhere today. well, it is first and foremost, it is disingenuous. it s not supported by evidence or fact, but that s not the point, right? when we start talking about class warfare and we start, you know, using sweeping terms like, you know, the wealthy, the working class, the real american, but we are than talking about is political sportsmanship, right? these are actually two different issues. what was released today was actually really substantive, engagement with understanding what has created the student loan crisis. the politics of it does not pay attention to those really, real material conditions at all. the idea that this is a giveaway to wealthy people ignores the fact that wealthy families don t need to use the student loan system to the extent that any wealthy family does use the student loan system, you know why they use it? they use it for tax planning purposes, right? to get low interest, cheap money, so they can use their money for investment vehicles in the inter ....
Response, that could tip the balance in favor of the opposition. that s what the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff wrote in a letter last week. the question is, is had a what you want to do? if your military action is not sufficient to change the reality on the ground, one could ask if you don t look even more feckless and weaker than we look now. i think that the real american interest here, forget what the president said or anything else, the real american interest here is in making sure that those chemical weapons of which syria has a lot, don t get out of the country, into the hands of terrorists, where they could be used against americans or our friends or allies worldwide. i have to ask you this. i don t mean to run but i have to ask you this before i let you go. how do we get a heck handle on those weapons by not having any human intelligence on the ground and not having any boots on the ground? well, i think we have some intelligence but i think it is getting old quic ....
New york times has latched on to something that was in fox nation which apparently does have something to do with fox news, it takes this whole idea of promotion to another level. so, yeah, it would be nice if the real american stories were somehow real. whose great idea was it by the way to launch sarah palin on tv on april fools day? you know, every day is april fools day, it s a bit like, i wish it could be christmas every day, but it is april fools day all the time on fox news, especially for people who watch it. last question, is she going to use a teleprompteteleprompte you know, only dead fish go with the flow, and only dead fish read teleprompters. i m reading a teleprompter and you did too. and i was pretty dead too. so, richard wolffe. i opened with a joke. richard wolffe, great thanks as always. ....
