The Peasants, by Oscar-Nominated Loving Vincent Director, Sells to Germany (EXCLUSIVE) Christopher Vourlias, provided by FacebookTwitterEmail Jan Naszewski’s Warsaw-based New Europe Film Sales continues its pre-sales of “The Peasants,” the hotly anticipated follow-up from Oscar-nominated “Loving Vincent” director Dorota Kobiela, selling rights for Germany and Austria to Koch Media. As reported earlier, New Europe brokered a deal with The Jokers for distribution in France of the buzzy animated feature. More from Variety “The Peasants” is produced by BreakThru Films’ Sean Bobbitt and Hugh Welchman, who also co-wrote the script, using the same technique that dramatically brought the paintings of Vincent van Gogh to life in “Loving Vincent,” which Kobiela co-directed with Welchman. ....
Best Friend Forever Boards Black Comedy Bloody Oranges With Denis Podalydes, Blanche Gardin (EXCLUSIVE) Elsa Keslassy, provided by FacebookTwitterEmail Popular French theater director Jean-Christophe Meurisse is making his sophomore film outing with “Bloody Oranges,” a black comedy headlined by Denis Podalydès (“La Belle Epoque”), Blanche Gardin (“Delete History”) and Christophe Paou (“Synonyms”). Brussels-based outfit Best Friend Forever has acquired international sales rights to the film, which is produced by Rectangle Prods. “(“It Must Be Heaven,” “Climax”) and Mamma Roman. More from Variety “Bloody Oranges” marks Meurisse’s follow-up to “Apnee,” which premiered in Cannes Critics’ Week in 2016.
