Nepal to sell surplus electricity in India's energy exchange market

After obtaining the approval, the power trade between Nepal and India has entered a new phase, the report said.According to Madhu Bhetuwal, spokesperson for the Energy Ministry, the Indian authority has also been studying Nepals proposal to sell the electricity generated by two other power projects, including the 456MW Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project, The Kathmandu Post reported.Nepal became an energy surplus country ever since the 456MW Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project came into full operation in August, the report said.According to the NEA, Nepal now has surplus power even during peak hours, usually between 7 and 8 pm. ....

7 climbers stranded due to snowfall in Nepal rescued: report

Seven climbers, including four foreigners, who were stranded for the last three days in Nepals Tumling due to heavy snowfall in the Himalayas, have been rescued, a media report said on Friday.Four Slovenians and their three Nepali trekking guides were stranded there as they could not trek through the Nyalu pass, The Himalayan Times reported.However, following efforts being made by authorities a chopper was sent and all of them were airlifted, the report said.They were airlifted to Simikot from Tumling on Friday. ....

PM Oli led CPN-UML expels 11 lawmakers for supporting Opposition alliance


Nepal s ruling Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) on Monday expelled 11of its lawmakers for going against the party and supporting the Opposition alliance in its bid to topple the government led by embattled Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli.
The Standing Committee of the CPN-UML decided to take action against the lawmakers, including former prime ministers Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhalanath Khanal, during a meeting held here on Monday.
The expelled lawmakers will not even remain general members of the party for siding with the opposition parties to oust the Oli government.
They were expelled hours after the deadline given to them to furnish clarification expired on Monday morning. ....

Nepal to administer second dose of Covid-19 vaccine from April 20


Nepal will administer the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine from April 20 to April 28 to those who have received the first shot of the vaccine from January 27 and February 12.
The second dose of coronavirus vaccine for those who had received the first shot of Covishield between January 27 and February 12 will be administered from April 20 to April 28, The Himalayan Times reported citing Samir Kumar Adhikari, assistant spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population.
The first dose of the Covishield vaccine was given to health professionals, security personnel, officials of diplomatic missions, embassies, and those working in the United Nations.
On March 3, members of Nepal Parliament were administered the first jab of India-made COVID-19 vaccine at Minbhawan based Civil Hospital in Kathmandu. ....
