welcome to our viewers on pbs in america and around the globe. two men convicted of the murder of the american civil rights leader, malcolm x, are set to be exonerated. he was shot dead in new york in 1965 as he prepared to give a speech. the manhattan district attorney said muhammad al aziz and khalil islam did not get the justice they deserved. the conviction of a third man, thomas hagan, has not been overturned. earlier i spoke to phil bertelsen. he is series producer and director of the netflix documentary series who killed malcolm x? his documentary was the reason this issue was brought to light. he described how it felt to change history. it feels extraordinary i have to say, and thanks for having me and thanks for reporting on the story. it is often that we do this job of ours in reporting whether it s news or stories of historical meaning and our only hope is that they have impact, and in this case, it did. so we re eternally grateful, and happy for the families ....
