New Program To Accommodate Increased Mental Health Needs Of Children, Youth

KLCC s Brian Bull reports on a grant-funded program that allows The Child Center and PeaceHealth accomodate increased mental health emergencies by children and youth.
A Journal of Pediatric Nursing report shows the rate of 5 to 17 year-olds seeking emergency mental health rose 60 percent over a decade
before the pandemic. And PeaceHealth reports seeing an average of 38 youth per month at two sites since COVID-19 hit Oregon.
The Oregon Health Authority has granted $150,000 for PeaceHealth and The Child Center in Springfield for a Crisis and Transition Services (CATS) program in Lane County.

The Child Center hires new executive director

WENTZVILLE, Mo. â The Board of Directors of The Child Center recently announced Andrea Vent has been selected as its new executive director.
The Child Center is a nonprofit organization responding to child abuse through a supportive team approach to reduce the trauma to children and their families.
âWe are exceptionally pleased that Andrea has taken on the role of the executive director,â said Julie Seymore, president of The Child Center Board of Directors. âWith her knowledge of child advocacy centers and proven leadership, we expect Andrea to not only continue The Child Centerâs excellent services, but to work with partners and funders to help plan effectively for the future, expand our programs and introduce innovative approaches to help end child abuse.â ....
