Fourth day road toll: 29 dead, 392 injured

(Photo: Apichart Jinakul) Twenty-nine people were killed and 392 injured in 376 traffic accidents on Tuesday, the fourth day of the Songkran road safety campaign, interior deputy permanent secretary Ansit Sampantharat said on Wednesday. Mr Ansit, chairman of the centre for the prevention and reduction of road accidents, said the figures raised the total number of accidents during the four days (April 10-13) to 1,465, with 152 deaths and 1,494 injuries. The death toll, 29, was substantially down on Monday s 54 killed on the roads. On Tuesday, speeding was blamed for 36% of accidents, followed by drink-driving, 28%.

PM2.5 dust levels measured at 7am on Thursday ranged from 15 to 75 microgramme per cubic metre, according to a report issued by the Pollution Control Department.

Bad air over greater Bangkok 5 published : 16 Dec 2020 at 11:15 5 The Pollution Control Department reported unsafe smog levels in greater Bangkok on Wednesday morning, but the air in other regions was at good to very good quality. Particulate matter 2.5 micrometres or less in diameter exceeded the government s safe threshold of 50 microgrammes per cubic metre of air over the past 24 hours in most areas of Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan and Samut Sakhon, the department reported at 7am. PM2.5 was at 26-98 mcg/cm over greater Bangkok. In the capital, PM2.5 peaked at 98 on Ma Charoen Road in Nong Khaem district, followed by 87 on Klong Thawi Wattana Road in Thawi Wattana district and 76 in Bang Kae district.
