Medicinal cannabis licences: African farmers, cultural groups want legal right to cash in on 'green gold'


“The reality of marijuana is that it is a cash crop, it s the last remaining mineral that hasn t gone underground like gold, coal, copper. It s a natural resource, it s a green gold, a gold of the poor.
“Both the rich and the poor can benefit from it. It will bring our people to the cannabis economy. It will help to open the black cannabis industries and help to decrease the level of poverty and increase the level of employment,” he said.

Adwa Victory Celebrations 2021

The 5th Annual RasTafari Nation march celebrating the 124th Anniversary of the Victory at Adwa was convened on 2 March 2020 in Cape Town, Menelik Square (Keizersgracht Parking lot).
The participants were representative of all various mansions, houses, collectives, groups, communities and organisations constituting the RasTafari Movement of Azania (South Africa).
This year a delegation of Ethiopians traveled from Johannesburg to join the celebrations in Cape Town with the RasTafari Movement, this is symbolic of the royal and diplomatic relations between the RasTafari Movement and Modern Ethiopia.
The fundamental purpose of the event is to celebrate the Victory at the Battle of Adwa, the Movement also uses the march as a platform to deliver a memorandum of demands, from the RasTafari communities of South Africa, to the current Government. ....

SOUTH Africa will not have true reconciliation as long as the majority continues to live in poverty while the minority exists in comfort.
This was what President Cyril Ramaphosa said yesterday during his Day of Reconciliation address, delivered virtually from Cape Town.
Ramaphosa said since South Africa became democratic 26 years ago, there’d been progress in overcoming divisions caused by apartheid.
“Much as we continue to actively work to overcome divisions in society, deep and persistent challenges remain,” he said. ....

Rastafarians march for access to cannabis industry
Cape Town – Around 300 Rastafarians marched through the Cape Town CBD over the exclusion of indigenous people from the cannabis industry.
They were also unhappy about the lack of legislation pertaining to cannabis cultivation and land distribution.
The march, organised by the Black Farmers Association of South Africa (BFASA), was joined by the Delft Chamber of Business, Rastafari United Front, Rastafari Ganja Council Western Cape and 10 affiliated associations.
The march commenced at the Grand Parade on Thursday, then moved to Parliament, the Western Cape Legislature and concluded at the Western Cape High Court.
Petitions were handed to representatives from the Office of the President, the premier and the Judge President of the High Court. ....
