As i look way down there, you can see the stair well there. that s where you could normally walk down. all of this water that s here in lake pontchartrain has been pushed up by the winds and while we have a lull in the winds, it doesn t mean the winds are pushing the water forward. as you see that green kind of hill over there, that s a man made hill and called a levy, if you remember in katrina, it was the levees that failed. a levee is all of that earth built up on the wall on other side that keeps the water there from rushing over. all of this area here actually that levee is designed to keep it from going that direction but there are levees beyond there that keep the water from moving. that direction is new orleans and you have all of the canals coming down that way. after katrina, there was a big effort that went into making sure the levees would not fail ....
