Two roadside astrologers who predicted the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) candidate's victory in the April 19 Lok Sabha election with the help of their parakeet were arrested on a charge of keeping parakeets caged but was later released.

Fortune tellers predict PMK candidate s win in poll, but fail to foresee impending trouble

In Cuddalore, two roadside astrologers were arrested for keeping caged parakeets used for fortune telling, despite predicting the PMK candidate s election victory. The astrologers were released and their birds were freed by forest officials. Parakeet fortune telling is a common practice in Tamil Nadu, drawing criticism from PMK leader Dr Anbumani Ramadoss for the arrest.
