Minister of National Security welcomes new Defence Force recruits
Port of Spain: Minister of National Security the Honourable Fitzgerald Hinds M.P. attended the historic Joint Passing Out Parade of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force today, Monday May 03, 2021, at Teteron Barracks, Chaguaramas. In a bid to better secure Trinidad s southern peninsula, National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds announced that members of the regiment will be assigned to Camp La Romaine by the end of May.
Speaking at a passing-out ceremony for members of the defence force at Teteron Barracks, Chaguaramas, on Monday, Hinds said the decision to move troops to La Romaine was done to better secure the southern part of Trinidad as well as oil and gas assets in the area.

National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds has urged defence force recruits to remain true to their oath and steer clear of negative people and influences.
Hinds made the remarks during his feature address at a passing-out parade for 153 members of the Regiment, Coast Guard and Air Guard at Teteron Barracks, Chaguaramas, on Monday.
He said the defence force is expected to counter internal and external threats to national security, and recruits had an individual responsibility to avoid any activities that could harm their credibility.
