Hotels refuse to police bookings from Tier 3 guests Save 15 December 2020 ⢠5:02pm Follow Many hoteliers will not police bookings from Londoners when the capital, along with parts of Essex and Hertfordshire, moves into Tier 3 from Wednesday. Restrictions under the toughest tier include avoiding travelling outside of your area or staying overnight in other parts of the UK. However, hotels are not required to check where their customers have travelled from, and some refuse to do so. Hotel guests can travel from Tier 3 to Tier 2 or Tier 1 if they deem necessary,  Dan Brod, the co-owner of the Beckford Group, which has boutique hotels and pubs with rooms, in Somerset and Wiltshire, told Telegraph Travel. ....

The launch of a new system to reduce quarantine requirements has been marred by problems with coronavirus testing companies. From Tuesday, travellers arriving in England can end their self-isolation if they pay to take a coronavirus test at least five days after they land, and get a negative result. But several of the 11 testing firms on a Government-approved list published on Monday night are facing difficulties providing the Test to Release service. One company, SameDayDoctor, asked to be withdrawn from the programme. It posted a message on its website stating: “Unfortunately we have been so overwhelmed with requests for Test and Release that we cannot answer any more emails nor take any more bookings.” ....
