I have been underwhelmed lately by the flood of no e-mail seeking publicity for non-profit community events. Apparently, there is nothing to announce.
National, state, and local COVID-19 restrictions are likely to blame. Planners can fill, even overfill, the maximum permissible gathering capacities without inviting more potential occupants, or when an admission is charged, the reduced COVID capacity is so small that a presentation of music or a play would lose money.
Even my invitation to share accounts of what is NOT going on, and why, has been ignored. That invitation stands. Call or write.
Still, the community news drought has given me the opportunity to use the term underwhelmed. Currently, I am waiting for news about the effect of the pandemic on televangelism so I can use the word nadir.
