We return fighting is a chronicle of men and women who served the country on the battlefield as well as on the home front and their struggles for civil rights. We are fortunate to be joined tonight by shasha conwell, the s Deputy Director and editor of we return fighting. The images are really very powerful, of americans at war and on the home front. It also gives us a different look at the life African Americans faced when they came home after the war. Let me end by welcoming you and assuring you that you are in for a wonderful evening. Since 1911 preservation virginia has shared the chief justices life and legacy. We are grateful to many descendents who have over the years returned books furnishing tableware and personal items. These objects bring the room alive and it doesnt take much to imagine the activities of the family the household and the many guests who visited. There are no artifacts that better define marshalls career than the robe he wore for his tenure as chief justice of the United States Supreme Court. The room is cared for by generations of descendents before finding its way into our collection. The robe is a witness object and if robes could talk what a story this one could share. John marsh award this robe is a prison guard presided over Supreme Court cases during which time the Supreme ....

Damian shields is an engaging young scholar. Hes an archaeologist by trade. Hes an historian by emotion and2y he gets the way you have to do those things. Lets not decide objects and places dont matter, only the words someone wrote on a piece of oh paper. It all matters. Its all evidence of how history unfolded and its impact on us today. Yesterday was a great pleasure of mean. I picked pupup mr. Clay and we went over to Stones River National battlefield and i managed not to lose him totally in that battlefield. We kbolt over to franklin just in time it was sort of dusk. The perfect time to study a man. All of this together means we dm have a unique opportunity to have a perspective and learn from a perspective that sometimes we dont take in here in tennessee. We do have civil war historians aplenty. Sometimes you can shake a tree and a bunch fall down the. We dont get that

CSPAN3 Politics Public Policy Today December 29, 2014

Im David Carroll from chicago. Hi, david. Hi. In the last year published in the journal of the Abraham Lincoln association there has been great speculation on mary lincoln purchasing penny royal at dill lards drugstore in springfield when she was pregnant with tad who was born with a cleft palate. Penny royal is used to rid dogs of fleas or induce abortion. Do you have insight on this recent scholarship . Im sorry. I cant comment on that. My recent move and dislocation of many of my books and pieces meant that i dont have the 41 of oh mary lincoln but moving from ireland was difficult. I would say from my reading i have no evidence from her letters or otherwise that there would be any way i could comment or believe she was trying to not have a fourth child. The lincolns were besoted by their children. They were very proud and devoted that when she suffered family tragedies an ....
