RJRGLEANER Communications Group made 107 workers redundant as part of a restructuring exercise completed last Friday which the company said was primarily driven by the negative impact of COVID-19.
The reorganisation exercise was executed over several months, the media group said in an advisory Wednesday to the Jamaica Stock Exchange, adding that there was the need for continued changes as the global media and communications industry continues to be transformed.
Five of the 107 workers impacted by the redundancy exercise were managers, the company said.
Among the companies and brands that are part of the RJRGleaner Communications group are Television Jamaica Limited, TVJ, Ispotmedia, TVJ Sports Network, Jamaica News Network, JNN, Reggae Entertainment Television, RETV, The Gleaner Company (Media) Limited, GCML, The Star, Radio Jamaica 94FM, FAME 95 FM, HITZ 92FM, POWER 106FM, MUSIC 99FM, Multi Media Jamaica Limited, MMJL and Gleaner Online Limited.
