The Union Home Ministry has formed tribunals under the stringent anti-terror law, Unlawful Activities Prevention Act or UAPA, to decide whether the ban on two Kashmir-based organisations, Muslim League and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, was justified.
India News: NEW DELHI: The Centre on Tuesday set up a tribunal, led by a judge from the Delhi High Court, to assess whether there are sufficient grounds to declar.
The Centre directed the Jammu and Kashmir administration to seize assets and freeze bank accounts of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat and Muslim League Jammu Kashmir. Both banned groups were involved in anti-India propaganda and secessionist activities. The Union Home Ministry issued notifications under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
Thursday’s order by the ministry of home affairs comes days after the Centre declared the two groups as terrorist groups under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act | Latest News India
