Chiamaka Ozulumba
Towards driving awareness of online security among secondary school students across Nigeria, Teens Can Code has embarked on a new initiative tagged “Virtually Safe” that would provide a wide range of resources to help young users stay safe online.
As part of its plans to reach a sizeable population of students, Teens Can Code is working with partners and volunteers to reach over 300 schools through a National School Tour.
The campaign will touch three out of the six geo-political zones across the country. Some of the activities outlined by the organisation to help it connect with the students are Online Safety Art Challenge, Online Safety Debate Competition, Online Safety School Clubs, and the launch of a dedicated website http://www.virtuallysafe.org ....

Global Engagement Summit event to virtually return this weekend

Global Engagement Summit will return virtually this weekend after last year’s conference was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The annual summit on social entrepreneurship will be the first time the student-run group will convene since 2019, and delegates from countries including Sri Lanka, Indonesia, India and Afghanistan will attend workshops, speaker events and connect with Chicago professionals.
Although most of the weekend’s agenda is reserved to GES members, Friday’s keynote speech by tech nonprofit Girls Who Code founder Reshma Saujani will be open to all Northwestern students.
“The whole goal of the summit is to help them grow their projects and enhance their impact and kind of change the world through them,” Charlotte Tauss, GES co-director and Weinberg senior, said. ....
