The racist murder of Stephen Lawrence took place 31 years ago today at a south London Bus stop. Two of the original five prime suspects were convicted almost 20 years after the murder. But the met s disastrous handling of the case means no one else has been brought tojustice. Last year, the bbc publicly identified a sixth suspect, Matthew White, who died in 2021 and revealed multiple failures by the met to properly investigate him.
