AN elderly man was bashed with a golf club, rake, sticks, rocks, an ant mound and a knife, then left lying bleeding on the ground before his keys were pulled from his pocket and car stolen, a court has heard.
An 18-year-old woman was sentenced in the Cairns District Court to 15 months detention with immediate release on Friday after earlier pleading guilty to robbery with violence in company and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
The teen was aged 17 at the time of the offence in February last year, so cannot be identified.The court heard the girl was from Innisfail, but living with family on the Tablelands at the time when she and her 13-year-old male cousin got drunk on rum and bourbon, smoked marijuana and went to the 75-year-old man s Battle Creek home west of Ravenshoe. ....
